The first was held in 1996 at the Vitra Design Museum in Weil am Rhein and the most recent at the Z33, Hasselt and Genk in Belgium. This year, the 23rd edition will be held from 2nd to 5th October at the Museum für Gestaltung in Zurich.
Muscon is the annual conference launched by the Vitra Design Museum, which brings professionals from the museum sector together to promote the exchange of travelling exhibitions. Over the last twenty or so years, Muscon has become a cultural platform, a point of reference that brings together museum directors, curators and exhibition organisers, providing them with an unparalleled opportunity for interface, information exchange, expertise sharing and developing new working strategies.
The conference takes place over several days, offering a packed programme that also includes visits to museums in the area to get a feel for the local culture. The conference has also been held in the United States since 2007 and, occasionally, in the Asia Pacific area since 2008.
