“(Milan) is a stimulating city to work in, ugly, but not provincial. You never meet anyone. That's its great advantage: it’s solitary. The same sort of solitude that pervades New York.”
Vico Magistretti, 1980
"The tram lines are design…" V.M.
“The underground is the only modern thing in Milan …” V.M.
"I think the Famagosta depot is fantastic. The presence of these triangular elements, which travel alongside us on the way to the Autostrada dei Fiori toll both really pleases me because there’s this sort of double order, a very simple lower row and then this almost industrial system of triangular elements that give some idea of their content. This is a transport depot, for trams, and in this sense the multitude of triangles narrates the multitude of these moving parts that invade the city. It is also a very contemporary design and, if I may say so, stylistically this project was a great forerunner of many things we then saw in the early years of this millennium.”
Stefano Boeri in the video Dimmi di Vico, Vico Magistretti Foundation, 2015.
